A Note From the Principal

August 9, 2026

We are excited for the first day of school on August 12th. Students' 1st period class will be posted in the cafeteria as they enter on the first day of school. They will receive their full schedule in their first period class on the first day.

1. The first day of school will be on August 12, 2026. Classes will begin promptly at 7:50 am. Please ensure your child arrives on time, and we ask that parents do not walk their child to class at junior high. Here is the link to the 2026-2027 Academic Calendar. Your child will NOT receive a schedule until all annual forms are completed online. They must be completed by 8/10/2026.

2. Our doors will open at 7:15 am, and SJH school hours are: 7:50 am to 3:30 pm. Students will be marked tardy at 7:50 am if they are not in class. Research consistently demonstrates a strong link between student attendance and academic success. Attendance matters, and it’s extremely important that your child is at school on time for the full day every day.

3. During the first week of school, students should bring pencils, pens, and a spiral notebook. Teachers will share supply lists with students during the first week of school.

4. It is a district requirement that all annual forms be completed by August 10, 2026. If you need assistance with the forms, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kelli Kuykendall, kkuykendall@splendoraisd.org. SJH Registrar.

Dress Code Update
Leggings, spandex, and tights may be worn if covered by a shirt, blouse, skirt, and/or shorts that are mid-thigh or longer. Hoodies can be worn, but students cannot wear a hood in the building for safety reasons.

Bus Riders
Students are required to register for transportation services each year. Be sure to complete this form as part of annual online registration.

  3. Exit: After your child is safely dropped off or picked up at the front of the school, continue following the route to exit back onto Bright Sunshine Road.
When picking up, please watch for your child and ask them to watch for you. We will not call names.

Walker and Bike Rider Information:
If your child lives in the neighborhoods, Townsend Reserve or The Canopies, and you want him/her to walk or ride a bike to and from school, please ensure you have completed the form shared on Parent Square on Friday, 7/31/2026.

Cell Phone Policy

The instructional day begins when a student enters the school building and ends at the final dismissal bell. This policy applies in all areas of the campus, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and the cafeteria—during passing periods and lunch.
Students must keep devices out of sight, turned off or in silent mode, and unused at all times during the school day. Devices may be stored in a student’s backpack.
All SJH staff will consistently uphold and enforce this policy. Students who do not comply will receive consequences in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
